I’m moving my bedroom to our basement (it’s finished). It’s a pretty big space (it’s the entire floor), wood paneled walls (painted a pale yellow).. I’m into a calmed down version of a Barbie theme. I like this room (designed by Jonathan Adler for the Malibu Barbie Dream House):

I’ve been with my husband for 4 years. This is a second marriage for both of us. I have two sons, 12 and 10 and my husband has a daughter, 8, all who live with us full time. My family has excepted my new daughter without question. She receives the same christmas and birthday gifts as my sons do. The problem I have is with my husband’s family.

On our daughter’s 8th birthday I threw a party. Everyone in my husband’s family declined to attend. A few days later I received an invitation in the mail to our own daughter’s b-day party, being thrown by my husband’s aunts. I had to work, but my husband took all 3 children to the party. The amount of gifts was overwhelming. Easily more than 0 had been spent in total.

This summer I called my husband’s aunt (seems to be one aunt in charge of everything) I told her I’d like to plan a Bday party for my son’s, (who’s bdays are 2 days apart) that the family could attend and asked for her help. She called back a week later to tell me it just was not possible and they would all just send a card. They each received cash and a walmart gift card. Total. That was it.

This Sunday we attended the Bday party of yet another child in the family. His gifts easily would have totaled over 0.

My sons are not stupid and can easily see the favoritism. The same thing happens at Christmas time, they all get the same number of gifts, but it’s like comparing a handful of hotwheels cars to a Barbie Dream House.

Again, my family has treated my stepdaughter exactly the same as the others since day one.

I am very hurt by all of this. I would love to know if this is "normal" behavior or if I just need to be grateful for what they do for our daughter and not worry that our sons are treated differently.

I would like to have the following things; pony, barbie dream house, a car to go with my barbie dream house, and another pony so my 1st pony wont be lonely, and a barbie doll, plus i would also like a ken doll!

I still have boxes of barbies from back when I was younger. And I still have a barbie dream house in my closet.

I liked playing with Barbies. I even had a 3 story barbie dream house and a barbie convertible and I once had a barbie airplane. Barbies were my obsession. I had over 60 of them including Ken and Kelly dolls. :]

A KISS. SHE’S A REALLY SWEET GIRL, AND I WAS WONDERING IF YOU THINK I SHOULD TAKE HER OUT FOR ICE CREAM, OR BUY HER THAT NEW BARBIE DREAM HOUSE SHE’S WANTED FOR A WHILE.

My bathroom has Pepto-Bismol pink ceramic tile (ahhhhh!) for flooring and for the shower wall. There are many DIY sires with advice on how to sand, primer, and paint as a cost effective way to change the color.

Has anyone done this in the bathroom successfully?

I’m open to other cost effective methods- is it possible to just remove the tile off the shower wall altogether and re-wall? Are peel and stick tiles a good option, or do they look cheap?

As many details, ideas, and options as possible! I am not planning on spending a lot or going over the top as I am renting. Just a way to get rid of the Barbie dream house colored bathroom! =)

It’s kinda pathetic but when i want someone/something i can’t have…well sometimes i cry.
When i was little i remember going to a toy store and seeing a barbie dream house with one of those little pools and i wanted it sooo bad but it was too much. I cried all the way home…and locked myself in my room the rest of the day. lol.

So why do you think it is that we usually want what we CAN’T have more than what we CAN have?

The problem is:
Cathy and Rachel went to Walmart to buy some stuff to share. They wanted to buy 1 Barbie dream house (cost 299.98), one Barbie jeep (cost 24.99) , 2 new Barbies (cost 18.99 each) and 2 new outfits (cost 5.00 each). Tax was 8%. Rachel’s mom had a coupon for 10% off. Cathy said she would pay 3/4 the final price, if she could play with it first. How much did Cathy have to pay, and how much did Rachel have to pay? Srry it is kind of hard and long, but will someone please help me!
By the way i need this asap!
