Is this a good research paper over Barbie? im only in 8th grade…?

“Barbie is just a doll,” someone once said, but Barbie® is not just a doll; She’s an international fashion icon.

The Barbie® doll has reshaped millions of lives and others are in line for the change, but this change would never of happened without the marvelous creator Ruth Handler. The story begins like many other stories; Ruth had been living with her husband, daughter, and son. Her husband, Elliot Handler was in business making picture frames, but when his partner bailed on him; he decided to move on and make doll house furniture with all the left over picture frames. Frankly his partner came back and together they named their business Mattel, ‘Matt’ for Harold Mattson the partner, and ‘el’ for Elliot. Like one quoted “Once a quitter, always a quitter,” and Harold decided to move on once again. Alone, Elliot began receiving help from his beloved wife, Ruth who aspired greatly in building a doll. Unsure of where to find her muse, she began looking quickly and the first place was from the designers in Mattel, unfortunately there was no spark. Depressed the young creator sat at home, where she found her spark watching as her young daughter and her friends played with paper dolls. ‘Barbie® had to be created.’
Family vacation was the next step to the creation of Barbie®. The family of four traveled to Europe where they had discovered the Bild Lilli doll, a doll quite similar to the upcoming Barbie® doll but much different in dimensions, to be exact much larger than what Ruth had in mind. Ruth purchased one knowing that with a model the process of Barbie® would be much faster. Her vision was set, Barbie® named after her daughter, Barbara; would have a narrow waist, long tampered legs, high healed feet, detailed facial features, as well as painted finger and toe nails; this dream doll had to be made. Unfortunately the designers at Mattel were uninterested and thought it would be a waste of much money. So where would the famous Barbie® doll be made? Not America but in Japan, with help from the Kokusai Bocki Kasisha staff, who spent long hours working on the Barbie® project made out of hard plastic with many molded parts.
Finally the Barbie® doll was shown to public at the New York City American Toy Fair. She was dressed in a black and white zebra-striped swimsuit with open toed shoes; accessorized with sunglasses, earrings, and her hair pulled back up in a low pony tail. The buyers weren’t exactly impressed with her, but to the kids it meant the world. In fact it took several years for supply to catch up with the demand, and 10 years from the appearance in New York City 1959, the public purchased 500 million dollars worth of Barbie® products, each Barbie® being sold at 3 dollars.
Barbie® has evolved into the most successful toy in the history of toy industry. Defined as a “small-scale anatomically molded plastic figure of a human being used especially as a child’s plaything and collectable toy,” the plastic doll continues to live on. Today she has more than 80 careers and represents 45 different nations. According to Pechin, “since of its reality to girls it enhances their self-image and potential,” possibly increasing their maturity as Barbie® expands her horizons influencing young kids to do so also. Barbie® is currently marketed in more than 150 nations, and purchased from as low as a couple dollars to as high as 1000 dollars and more.

“In every second of every day, two Barbie dolls are sold somewhere in the world.”

My girlfriend has a Barbie collector doll (Edward) from the twilight series that is unopened and was packaged in the "Bella" box. The only obvious difference is the name printed on the box, however when she contacted MATTEL it was discovered this box has both "assortment numbers" on the packaging. One assortment number is for Edward doll the other for Bella doll Does this make this doll worth more? Does anybody know how to get this doll authenticated?
